PPL Advanced Handling Course

The Advanced Handling Course is designed for pilots after the PPL who want to work on the areas that will make the greatest difference to their flying. That may include handling development, especially at low speed and high angle of attack, increased cockpit capacity, better anticipation and TEM, and more effective use of SkyDemon or onboard navigation systems.

  • Handling development with particular emphasis on low-speed and high angle-of-attack flying.
  • More capacity in the cockpit, giving you back time and space.
  • Improved anticipation, planning, and practical threat-and-error awareness.
  • Better use of your own and onboard navigation systems.

What you may cover

Alongside briefing on the ground, the flying can cover the aerodynamic and practical ideas that often make the biggest difference after the PPL.

  • How the wing works
  • How slowly you can fly, and what that really means
  • Knowledge and practical use of the V speeds
  • Slow-speed handling
  • Flying the circuit from join to landing

What the aim is

The aim is to increase confidence through greater cockpit capacity, more relaxed flying, and a stronger readiness to explore new destinations and experiences.

Real aviation imagery supports the practical, experience-led feel of the training.

Who it is for

Support for pilots at the moments that matter most.

Artemis is for pilots who want thoughtful instruction shaped around their experience, aims, and current flying.

Newly qualified PPL holders

Consolidate handling, confidence, and cockpit capacity while good habits are still taking shape.

Returning pilots

Rebuild confidence progressively after time away, with support tailored to where you are now.

Pre-CPL pilots

Strengthen the practical areas that make the next stage of training smoother and more productive.

Owners and renters

Shape the training around your aircraft access, operating style, and the kind of flying you actually do.

Proficiency check preparation

Get structured support before a check or review of standard, especially after time away or patchy recent flying.

  • Best paired with a short conversation about goals, aircraft access, and recent experience.
FAQ

The practical questions pilots usually ask first.

This section removes uncertainty and makes the next step straightforward and low-pressure.

Can the training be tailored to me?

Yes. The starting point is a conversation about your goals, recent flying, aircraft access, and the specific areas where you want help.

Is this suitable after a PPL rather than during training?

Yes. The Advanced Handling Course is specifically aimed at helping pilots after the PPL course by concentrating on the areas that make the biggest difference in real flying.

Can we use my own aircraft?

Yes, where appropriate and where the aircraft is insured for instruction. Club aircraft or self-hire arrangements may also be possible.

How much time should I allow?

Many pilots begin with around 3 hours of instruction, but the right amount depends on your starting point and what you want to achieve.

Can you help me prepare for CPL training?

Yes. Artemis can support pilots preparing for the next stage, including practical and training-focused preparation before CPL flying and groundschool.

Can you help before a proficiency check?

Yes. Focused preparation can be tailored to your recent experience, the aircraft you fly, and the areas where you want structured practice before the check itself.
